Epson WorkForce WF-M1560 is another member in the WorkForce family of Epson printers. Above all, it's a monochrome printer so you'll get only black and white prints out of it. You might now ask who the hell might want only B&W prints? Who would benefit from this printer? Let's take a quick look at the printer to answer these questions!

I'd recommend Amazon.com to get these printers if you've already made up your mind. Last time I checked they were shipping these Epsons free. Also, might be their price is the lowest you can find. Why not to check out the current price situation yourself!

Main features

As noted above, you get to print only black and white pages with this Epson. It might sound strange first. But when you think about it, you'll see the big picture. Some people only want B&W prints. And they want them fast. Speed is one sector where this printer excels.

You can print up to 34 pages per minute with this printer. That is, in draft mode. You won't get the highest quality prints while printing in this mode. It's still enough for many uses. When you want great quality prints, expect them to printed at speed of 15 pages per minute. That's the ISO-standardized printing speed for Epson WorkForce WF-M1560 and probably closer to what you will actually get.

Other features

Pros:
  • Fast and cheap prints
Cons:
  • Not for photo printing

Another reason why someone would like a B&W printer is the cost per page factor. Using the Epson's high capacity black ink the cost per one black page is approximately 2 cents which is very cheap. The printer itself is a bit more expensive than most printers, but then the running costs like cost per page are low.

You can also do network printing with this Epson. Both wireless and Ethernet are supported. Especially in busy offices you'll like this option since you want to avoid the wire spaghetti as much as you can. Futhermore, if you don't want to use networking there's also the normal USB connection present.

There's also duplex printing enabled, allowing you to print on both sides of the paper. In many occasions you might want to do this. It will of course save you dollars in the long run. Also, if you care about the environment, paper waste will be reduced when printing duplex.

Summary

Epson WorkForce WF-M1560 seems to be reliable workhorse for office environments. Prints come out cheap and quick. Aside from printing, scanning and other functions make this printer even more usable. I'd say the best place to put this Epson is an office requiring only B&W prints. That's where this workhorse excels.
